My house is very dense and sealed and as I read articles in the New York Times about the negative effects of carbon dioxide accumulation on the perception, I decided to try a CO2 meter. I was shocked to see the CO2 levels in my office go over 1000 which was alarming! It is too much. It won't kill you, but it will affect your cognitive abilities. (And it seems these levels are often high in offices and classrooms.) So I made sure the window was ajar and the exhaust fan was running, and indeed the CO2 level dropped to around 600, which is perfectly normal (levels outside ). around 400). It's interesting to see how quickly the CO2 levels rise when I don't have a fan on or worse, a window is closed. As for the device, I don't have a way to test its accuracy, but the temperature and humidity sensors are pretty close. to my selected block, within a few degrees and a few percent, which is negligible. (I'm not sure which, if any, is correct.) As recommended by others, I turned off the automatic CO2 calibration, which gives misleading readings when someone is usually around, and it doesn't get you the ability to calibrate in 400ppm air (it works by calibrating to the lowest level it detects in a given period of time). That means you have to take it outside every few weeks and do a manual calibration (I just put it in front of the window). The controls aren't exactly user-friendly, but aside from resizing, you probably won't need to use them. after initial setup and unlike some others, the manual is clear and comprehensive. All in all a great device and a good item for anyone living in a modern sealed home or working in an office or classroom where CO2 levels are typically very high. and may affect performance. And it's worth noting that with proper ventilation, you'll reduce room pollution from items like MDF furniture. You need to find it within reach of an outlet.
