Have tried light ones in my saltwater aquarium in the past. This has worked well to reduce daily algae growth. I only cleaned the glass once a week and my water looked crystal clear. I can't say that about my fresh water tank. No signs of algae reduction after 2 weeks of use with higher dosages. see a lot of nasty seaweed (mostly black beard) that wasn't hurt.
