I bought my 784 about 16 months ago. I use it with DI-7100AP. About 3 months later the problems started. Tried updating the firmware didn't help. The block would snap into place with all the lights. Resetting requires a hard reset. Normally it will be blocked again within 5 minutes after turning it on again. If I reflashed the firmware it would work for a while. I called DLink. They were cute - really impressed me with their attitude! They decided to return my device so I got a new one. The problem occurred from time to time but seemed to go away within a few days. I was wondering if something was coming through my cable modem causing it to crash. Anyway, the problem came back in the last month of the warranty. So, DLink fixed the device again! I got a new block and had problems with it too. After doing a little research on the net I found a post from a guy who said he was having similar issues. To fix this, he disabled the router's 802.11a section. It seemed to work for him. I decided to try it and it solved all my problems as well. When investigating the issue, I couldn't find any other 802.11a networks in my area, but something seemed to be interfering with my signal. After disabling the 802.11a band it worked fine. So the reason I bought two units was so I could have a network in both A-band and G-band. I figured this would give me the best bandwidth and eliminate any interference that only one G-band network are available. Link below - I spent my money to buy a dual band router. You might also want to save some money and just buy one band.
