Our old scanner had a basic stand and I can say that a smart charging stand is a BIG improvement. Our employees no longer have to remember to connect it to the network. Just leave it on the stand and it will charge automatically. Essentially, this means we're not in a stupid position when customers walk in and need to find a cable and charge the scanner. It's probably more for us, but it's still a really nice feature. I also love the fact that you can plug the dongle into the stand and not have to plug it into your computer - eliminates the need for 2 USB ports on the PC - 1 for the charging cable and 1 for the wireless receiver. Easily reads driver's license barcodes.
