Simplicity! I just couldn't "catch" the California Mastitis Test Kit. This will add an equal amount of the purple substance to the milk you have in the test cup - shake well - then read after X seconds (read what?), looking for thickening? These cards are simple - spray on the card in the test area (there are four tests on the card) - look for white dots/swirls on the black contrast area - and watch the yellow dot color change (light green is ok) - Cautions/Warnings: one.
