Review on ⚡️ Schumacher Solar Charge Controller 12V - Optimize Lead-Acid Batteries and Solar Panel Performance by Neil Bodell

Need something like this for those small, low amperage solar panels

I ride my bike to and from work almost every day but need access to a vehicle if I need to meet clients in another city or avoid road hazards My route due to bad weather. Accordingly, I park my 2000 Odyssey at work. Unfortunately the battery slowly drains when the car is not running and on several occasions I have needed a jump start. sockets. However, I didn't research enough. It turns out that this particular solar panel allows current to flow from the battery in the opposite direction at night, draining the battery. The voltage of your solar panel will vary significantly depending on the intensity of the light it is exposed to. Apparently the voltage from the solar panel can range from about 3V to about 19V or 21V. At the low end you get a reverse current through the solar panel when the car battery is charged well enough; On the higher end, the voltage across the battery isn't that great for charging/charging the battery (you want your charging source to run at 13-14 VDC). voltage regulator/ge symbol, you need it. The Schumacher SPC-7A offers this capability at a reasonable price. It handles up to 7 amps from the solar panel and gives you an idea if you are generating charge and alerts you if you have low voltage (below 12v) from the solar panel. It has standard 12V line connectors to connect to the solar panel output and to connect to the 12V battery charging line (either battery clamps or 12V DC plug). there is a third output cable for an alternative load device. I have found that a low voltage indicator (LED) is useful to ensure the solar panel is positioned correctly. I just aim the solar panel so the low voltage light goes out and then I know I'm getting a useful boost. My mistake is that I chose a charger without a charge controller. But this inexpensive device got me back on track.
