Review on 🌾 Standlee Hay Company Chopped Wheat or Barley Straw for Premium Animal Bedding by Denise Ward

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Lots and lots of straw at an unbeatable price.

I'm a cat rescue and I have about 25 cat houses cleaned and filled with fresh straw every fall. I use a lot of these things. I've tried many other brands. Some were very good and some were very bad. But of all the ones I've tried none comes close to the amount you get for this price and the quality is great too. It comes in a large plastic bag and the straw is very compressed. It looks like it will fill about five or six cat houses (shelters made out of 20 gallon plastic containers) but when I started pulling out a few for two new ones I barely made a dent in the bag! Wonderful. There is a lot of straw in a 25 kg sack. I bet if I threw it away it would be enough to turn my garage into a giant cat shelter and I would be comfortable in it too. And I probably have some left. I'm telling you, it's like a bottomless straw mattress. And unlike longer strands of uncut straw, chopped straw is actually heated to kill seeds etc. that could germinate and allow plants to grow during the warm months (or even warm days in winter). And straw NEVER retains moisture. If so, then it's hay, NOT straw. NEVER USE HAY for animal bedding that is outdoors or not changed daily. If it's damp and the animal is wet, it can and most likely will get pneumonia and die before you know it's sick. But seriously, if you're in the cat rescue business or need straw (not hay that retains moisture) for pets, look no further. This quality and quantity cannot be surpassed anywhere. At least not on the planet I'm sitting on right now. And remember that it is also available WITHOUT GROUNDING. However, this type is NOT heat treated. Have a nice day! And take good care of the cats. God knows they need all the help they can get.
