IMPORTANT: for anyone using AMD Ryzen with a B550 or X570 board

Overall I really like this card when it works. However, there is a bug that has existed with this card for about a year on the B550 and X570 chipsets: sometimes the audio switches between channels, allowing the center to play your rear right speaker, or your right speaker can be swapped out. with left speaker. It seems to happen randomly and sometimes you might not have a problem for a couple of hours, other times it happens pretty quickly. Switching to headphone mode and then back to speaker mode temporarily fixes the problem, but it's a little fiddly at times. This appears to be related to PCIe 4.0 as well as higher RAM speeds (above 3000kHz), and while Creative says the latest BIOS updates and AMD chipset drivers should fix the issue, this is not the case. Every communication with Creative was pretty much like, "Oh, this is a known issue, but we have no idea how to fix it," kind of a deal. However, if you are using AMD then make sure you are aware of this issue as it might be a minor issue. However, as I said, it doesn't come up that often, so I don't want to downgrade more than 3 stars. Despite this issue, it's a really good card and I'm hoping that a new driver update from Creative will fix the issue. But I'm not holding my breath.

Pros
  • good stuff
Cons
  • good but not great
