I bought this adapter cable to connect a USB 2 optical drive to an iMac using one of the Thunderbolt 3 ports writes CDs and DVDs without connection problems. Five stars because "it just works" and Apple's version of this cable is much more expensive. ---------- Update (July 2018): No problem to report, still works after upgrading macOS from Sierra to High Sierra. Update (January 2019): No issue to report. Update (February 2019): Bought a second adapter for use with wired keyboards. So far there are no problems. Update (June 2019): There are no problems to report with any of the adapters. Update (July 2019): Both still work after updating to macOS Mojave. Update (March 2020): No issues to report. Update (September 2020): No issue to report. I won't be installing macOS Catalina on my computer, so I don't expect any system incompatibilities, at least until Big Sur is released. And if Apple can't make Big Sur stable and secure, I'll stick with Mojave for as long as possible.
