Straight to the solution: Change your home WiFi security. The smart plug could not connect to my home network when security was set to WPA2-PSK (AES). I reduced security to WPA-PSK (TKIP). Here is my experience: There is a serious problem setting up the Wemo Mini Wi-Fi Smart Plug. By following the Let's Go instructions, I was able to connect to the device using my phone's WiFi and launch the Wemo app. After a few steps, the app will prompt you to connect to your home WiFi. And at this point the application gets stuck in an endless loop or simply cannot connect to the home Wi-Fi network. After hours of troubleshooting, I tried changing my router's wireless security settings. I lowered the security to WPA-PSK (TKIP) and the smart plug was able to connect. The funny thing is that after I completed the entire installation process and the smart plug was working, I reset my router's security to WPA2-PSK (AES) and the smart plug was still working. Stupid right? Maybe it has something to do with my router (I have an AT&T router, model: 5268ACFXN). Now it works as expected but the setup was terrible.
