Review on πŸ”₯ Demon Street Demon Carburetor 1901 with 625 CFM by David Thornton

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Installation was as easy as any other carburetor

This is a solid carburetor and a fresh take on an old design. I replaced the old and spirited Holley 4160 with this one. Installation was as easy as any other carburetor, mounts to a standard square flange, and has a larger AFB footprint than Holley. No problems with connections and cables, throttle cable and C6 kickdown installed unchanged. The performance is good but I still miss Holley. It idles VERY quiet and is surprisingly easy to set up. It was near-optimal from the start - I drive a moderately modified Ford 351W at almost sea level and didn't have to fiddle with it much. and that's why I miss Holly. Despite the marketing, I never got a "hit" from the secondary interaction with Holley. For day-to-day use, I find it to have solid performance and the classic Holley design. Performance is a little disappointing, but handling is better, so it's kind of a compromise. For me it was a good cheap "temporary" carb until I could afford a full EFI tune.

Pros
  • Fingers crossed
Cons
  • Wrinkled packaging
