Review on Goodyear Ultra Grip Ice Arctic SUV 205/70 R15 96T winter by Wiktor Prusek ᠌

Revainrating 4 out of 5

No complaints, I recommend to buy.

Judging by the reviews and our own experience, there are reasonable suspicions that either the quality of the studding of these tires "floats" from batch to batch and there is insufficient quality control in production, or the manufacturer consciously, in different years of production, changes the composition of the tire mixture, which, in turn, it affects the strength of the studs in one direction or another, and at the same time, some other characteristics of the tire change, which he sees as more critical.

Pros
  • Rows well on snowy porridge. Predictable on ice. Quite confidently behaves on asphalt. For sane money, the tire is almost-premium class.
Cons
  • I will not write about the hum, because. if there is no noise from spikes on a studded tire, then either the spikes do not work for you, or they all fell out, or you have KontiAysKontakt 2, which is 40% more expensive than this Goodyear. And so, I saw noisier spikes. Enough to remember Yokohamovskie products. But here's what I can write in the shortcomings is the loss of spikes. Moreover, I had these tires on Skoda (Polish production), where the studs fell out to a minimum over 3 winters, but on Renault (German production) they fell out on two cylinders by about 50% and this is about 1.5 winters! But! For the sake of objectivity, it should be noted that the mileage in these winters was much higher than the standard for most car owners, and there was not much snow. The photo clearly shows significant wear of the spikes on the two central tires, and the almost complete absence of dropped spikes on the two outer tires.
