I bought this as the third item in my backup set; The first two were bought locally because they were on sale. So actually I have experience with them a few months. I use them to back up my system backup, so I had to format this NTFS to get around the 4GB FAT file size limit. That means my comments about speed only apply to NTFS formatted drives. write speed. If you look at the details, the write speeds range from 0 to 64MB/s or so. Actual tests show that the overall speed is almost the same as my ethernet, which is stable at 10-12 MB/s. So the average is around 10-12 MB/s. This uses a USB 3.0 connector. Read speeds measured over a USB 2.0 port are also around 60MB/s as that's all the laptop has, but it's pretty solid. However, in two cases, the speed dropped sharply after the first quarter or third of the file was transferred. I have no idea why. Reliability doesn't seem to be an issue, at least not yet. I'm not sure what "warm" means. It gets a little warm when recording, but not by much (IMHO). I can't find emotional support.
