Replacement for MTD jam nuts 712-3050

Okay, it's hard to get carried away with the nut. In my case the emotion was relief to get rid of the question why would I have to pay so much to install a new 712-3050 nut on my MTD Cub Cadet mower? Even if I found a good price shipping would be a good deal. So here, for the same money as 1 MTD Nut delivered by a slow ship, you get 10 Nuts via Prime 2-Day. Now I have spare parts. There is one difference with the mounting nuts for MTD mowers, it is the lock nut, which means the threads at the end of the cone are slightly curved and require more force to attach. No big deal, just clean and oil a little and it's going nowhere. If that bothers you, perform a 7/16-14 tap. If you're a purist, make a threaded faucet out of it. However you do it, it doesn't matter, it still holds your lawnmower wheel.

Pros
  • Compression nuts withstand high vibration and shock loads
Cons
  • A few small things
