This is the second of these devices that I have. The first one in the white case has been working for me for 6 years without any complaints. Before that it was used in gold plating applications to regulate the voltage on the plating elements - too high voltage, you use too much gold, wasting $$ - low voltage - you get a crappy plating. 6 years ago I had a flat screen and now it is used for protection. 1.) No noise 2.) Allow room for convection cooling. There is no fan and it generates heat under no load. 3.) Yes, it does click when the voltage changes, but that's good! You can see how it adjusts to compensate for high or low voltage conditions. Invaluable in --- ice storms, thunderstorms, heatwaves, dead nuts slamming into a utility pole on your electrical grid, etc. 4.) It's not a UPS - If the power goes out, you won't have power (duh) 5.) It offers surge protection and voltage control 6.) It's big and heavy like a tank. The old CRT bit the dust last week and I didn't hesitate to buy another one to use there. It also filters out electrical line interference, which acts like a hacksaw on some electronics. The new device looks just as solid as the old one. Know what you're buying, and if that's what you want, you'll be happy, happy.
