This horse is not a stable horse and would take 15 to 30 minutes each day to untangle his mane. I braided her mane, nothing special, just about ten straight braids, and the problem is solved. Each band lasts 2 to 3 weeks depending on how tight it holds them, rolling, rubbing against trees, if the band breaks before the braid has a chance to unravel I just put another band on. love these things.
