No noticeable outgassing. So you don't breathe in volatile organic compounds all night long. In the age of respiratory diseases, this is an important feature. Watch out for the zipper though. If you use it on an air mattress and it is very narrow, you will delay the mattress inflation. I ordered 2 of these a year ago and they still work great, work every day and during that time they have not been removed for washing every 5 days. The two I've ordered in the last 3 months both got stuck on the zipper end and I couldn't remove the lid without cutting the zipper.
