I purchased this to support a sun shade sail which needs quite a bit of tension. I had plans to attach it to my deck but everyone suggests bolting to concrete. Well, who needs ya! I bolted (purchased separately) the base flange through my deck and another layer wood attached perpendicular under the deck with the pole than rising out of a bench for a secondary location of support. Works a treat. I was rather surprised by the robustness of the pole, its 3" galvanized, with some good heft. Hardware was quality and I have no complaints so far. I was worried about having a 8 ft pole in two sections but its quite sturdy. Quick suggestion, grease the poles/couplers threads so it dosnt rust together and just generally keeps out water. 4 stars because its pricey.
