Review on 🌿 Organic Vegan Dry Shampoo Powder for Medium to Dark Hair - Handmade Heroes by Tina Campanita

Works well as a non-aerosol option, but wish it was unscented!

I use dry shampoo on the third day on the days I want to wash it (ie maybe once or twice a week) to absorb excess oil. I bought this Drop Dead Gorgeous as an alternative to dry shampoo, hoping it would be easier to travel with, better for the environment, and (hopefully) smelled less awful. I've been using Batiste for years because it's readily available in pharmacies and works well, but I couldn't stand the aerosol, heavily perfumed scent. It's a small bottle, perfect for travel and just enough for a long haul. I think if used twice a week it will last a year or more. The bottom label states that the product is made in Singapore, as well as the batch number and use-by date. I bought a darker color for brunettes. I was a little apprehensive about the application but the cap over the neck of the bottle pours just the right amount. I part my hair into strands and shake it out at the roots, or hold it over my head and gently tap the bottle with my other hand to release the powder. It's simpler than I expected, but also a bit messy - be sure not to wear dark colors when applying as some minor blemishes will inevitably cover you up. After a few minutes, when the oil has soaked in, I massage with my fingers. Apply to the roots and shake out the hair. Then, if necessary, use a boar bristle brush to comb out the excess. It works very well, ground nice and fine, and doesn't leave a horrible white residue while I scrape off the excess. There's not really a feeling of freshness and cleanliness, more of a "definitely powder in the hair" feeling, but that goes for any dry shampoo. I also have to wash my hands after using it because rubbing my fingertips turns a little gray. I took off a star because of the smell. The essential oils used in it are definitely more forgiving than other brands' fake aerosol fragrances, but I can't say I like it. It smells chalky, dry and perfumed and reminds me of a powder someone's grandmother might have used. I was hoping it would dissipate quickly, but I can still smell a little of it throughout the day. I want it to be odorless; my deodorant, lip balm, sunscreen, body lotion, etc. are already perfumed - my scalp doesn't need it. Overall, it works well for absorbing some of the extra oil at the roots, it's easier to apply than I expected, has cute packaging that's easy to carry, and doesn't leave a fluffy white cast on my brown hair until I close use a lot. If they made an unscented version it would be perfect.
