I'm new to loom knitting. I used to have a different brand. I ordered this set and I have no regrets! As with all looms there is a chance of the pin breaking, but I am very careful and tend to knit looser, so I've never had an issue with the pin breaking. There is no hook at the tip of the pen to hook the yarn. With these durable looms you can make many items in different sizes. Yes, I would recommend her
