Review on Enhance Engine Performance with CTA Tools 2237 Toyota/Lexus Harmonic Dampening Tool by Ricardo Mercado

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Worked great for a 2004 Toyota Sienna 3.3L. Remove the crank bolt. The torque on them is ridiculous, why, why, why?

This tool is quite expensive but if you need to remove an insanely stuck crank bolt on the latest Toyota it's definitely worth it. Make sure it fits your crankshaft pulley type. I read in some reviews that it doesn't fit some engines. As always, pay attention to the threads when installing, support the heavy tool by threading the bolts into the crank pulley. I put a 24mm deep socket (or something similar) on the tool's handle and it got stuck on the frame/hanger part when I tried to loosen the bolt. I used three 1/2 inch extensions to pull the breaker out of the wheel arch and placed the end of the extension on the jack stand. I had to put a few layers of short 2x4 wood under the stand to get the right height at the crank bolt level. I even put a small piece of greased cardboard on the jack support to eliminate friction. I applied such force to the bolt that flexing the broken rod with pipe, extensions, etc was incredible. I thought something would break. Then a loud "pop!" and hope the bolt didn't shear or the 1/2" socket extension broke or something. The insane torque for that bolt, almost 200 ft.lbs, is stunning. We have NEVER had this with much larger engines. I have to wonder if this isn't just another ploy to get the DIY enthusiast to spend money at the dealer. They always have more money in mind for the company earn. However, this should not be at the expense of the owner who bought their product, that makes it immoral.
