Before I installed this device, cable reception was unstable. It was good, don't get me wrong. But every half hour or an hour or so, I would have some artifacts appear on the screen, and sometimes the image would disappear for a second or two and then reappear. I only have two TVs and a cable modem connected to a three-way splitter. installed by the cable company. After installing this block, no artifacts, no black screens. The perfect picture. I couldn't be happier. My wife is happy too. Whenever I can make my wife happy, it costs money. The way I set mine up is a line going to my house that goes to a two way splitter. One branches out to this block, the other goes to my modem. The two TV connections are then disconnected from this device. I didn't want to jazz up my cable modem because I have my own cable modem (I don't rent it from a cable company) and I didn't want to damage it in any way because if it explodes too much force I will have to buy another one. I bought a quad shielded coax cable from another website that connects a 2 way splitter to this unit to protect it from external interference. I also bought a built in surge protector for the coax which when it comes out I will install as the first connection (before the 2 way splitter) so it protects everything.
