I used this to replace an expensive premium steering wheel cover I've had for 5 months which was aging quickly and the outer layer was peeling off. In comparison, it is much better! His skin feels thicker and softer. The holes are closer together, which makes the seams more original. It's slightly larger in circumference, which means less thread tension. I couldn't get the old cover to completely close the gap. I first made a baseball stitch with the provided thread and needle. Then I decided to redo the thing with cross stitch. So I ordered 1mm thread (thicker than the one supplied), needles and some beeswax. Do yourself a favor and either buy pre-waxed floss or rub it yourself, this will make the whole process a lot easier and the stitches will stay in place after you pull on the floss. I reinforced the stitches just before and after the needles and brought the back thread to the front so I could make a V stitch along the needles, looks much better (see photo). The photos also show that there is no gap even in the grip area of the thumb. Some reviews complain of the leather tearing at the holes after the strings are pulled. I guarantee you can rip this skin if you pull hard enough, but that means you're the wrong size. Still looks great after 7 months and has no signs of wear. Will do it in black on my wife's car. I got a second one and cut it to the template of my shift knob. Looks great!
