This works exactly as you would expect and is a great solution if you want to keep your system off the carpet and keep rear I/O easily accessible. I have several problems with this; At first glance it looks very cheap - I know it won't be anything special for the price, but it's plastic which isn't durable at all and the rubber inserts slide out too easily. Second, it's too narrow for mid-ATX systems. This may not be a problem for some, but if you need to remove the side panel regularly it can be inconvenient, especially when the rubber inserts are almost guaranteed to come off with it. This is a good and cheap solution, but if you're looking for something that will last, relax a little more and buy something stronger.
