Review on Sangean PR-D12 - Digital Tuning Portable Radio with AM/FM NOAA Weather Alert by Margarita Conde

Just got it so here are my first impressions. The radio is great. It is not raven. The box arrived alone, a Sangean box with a shipping label taped to the top. This often happened, absolutely no shipping container, only goods with a label. It wasn't damaged, but I'm sure a lot of them are. I think most people read these product reviews, not the shipping reviews, so the above didn't affect my rating. At the moment the radio is the HOME WAY for this type of small portable radio: really great reception. The antenna is long, but I receive weak stations, my other radios can only partially work with the antenna. Sound Quality: This is important to me. Most of these radios sound incredibly "tinny", high frequency and harsh. This one is much warmer and has a very nice hue. Everything else: well made, weather alarm, alarm clock, clear, illuminated display, time display even when the radio is in use, AA batteries (cheap, heavy, size D) can be connected or used. Two small criticisms: 1. I would have preferred to have had a rotary volume control instead of knobs. Possibly a smaller second knob under the tuning knob on the side or front. But that's just my preference, I'm sure many people will be satisfied with the large, highly visible and comfortable buttons.2. There is no additional entrance. Most of these radios don't have that, I don't know why. Aren't there many others who play this while working at their desk and would love to hook up their computer to sound off of it? Or play music on your cell phone in the garden? I'm not deducting a star for this omission because to be honest almost all radio stations in this category don't have it. It does support some weight, especially when batteries are installed (batteries were not included with the radio). Conclusion: I have tried many small portable radios. They either don't last long or annoy me with incredibly poor sound quality. Finally, this one seems to do everything I've been looking for. It's a lot more expensive than most in this category. In my opinion you absolutely get what you pay for. Hope for many years. I will use it as a bedside radio and alarm clock, on the patio, at my desk at work and as a weather channel when needed. I will update this review if I run into any issues or issues over time.
