Review on Winsor Newton Professional Acrylic Medium Painting, Drawing & Art Supplies by Michelle Langley

Working but not anymore

There are several reasons artists use plaster of paris. Some people like to use it instead of white paint as it's usually more opaque. This gesso is pretty thin and I can't imagine anyone wanting to mix their colors with it. Believe it or not, we are talking about liquid acrylic paint consistency. Some artists like to add it to the surface to give it a "tooth" before beginning to paint. I would say that this gesso has minimal tooth. It spreads easily and is quite opaque, but you may need to use two coats instead of one coat of thicker gesso (Grunbacher, etc.). It's not a bad product, but I wouldn't buy it again. I ordered Grunbacher Gesso and will try it.
