I've tried many antennas over the years including a large Winegard that cost over $100 ago and was damaged in a snow storm and one that cost over $200 with a spent special amplifier. for marginal areas, as well as a rotor in the style of an amateur radio antenna. None of these setups compare in performance to the one I have now. In the photo you can see a single antenna pointing to the side; that was the one I've been using to this day. I'm in an area about 90 miles from some of the network's main transmitters, and although one antenna worked most of the time, the transmitters often dropped out and I couldn't receive them for hours at times. The worst thing about these antennas in the edge areas is the rotor control built into the amplifier box in the house. NO INSTRUCTIONS on which direction the antenna is pointing, which way it rotates. I found the lack of feedback annoying, to say the least. And not just this antenna, but ALL similar antennas I've had. My solution is: - I bought two additional antennas; The two five star antennas you see are pointing towards the camera. - The "Tee" was made from rigid electrical conduit and 3/4" fittings and modified with a fourth connector to mount the top antenna. - I cut the pins off the rotor. Connection before the Assembling the antennas Due to the low cost of these antennas I'm not concerned about the warranty I then filled the rotor mechanism with epoxy to keep the antennas from spinning in the strong winds we get here (sometimes over 70mph ).-Three separate coax cables go to their three separate amplifier/turn/control boxes that came with each antenna.-The three outputs (one from each control box) were combined using the antenna combiner. The combiner's output goes to the TV So now I have a current signal almost three times that of a single antenna, I rescanned my transmitters and got about 60 channels, I cycled through them and it sche int that they are all viable at this point, although I will "hide" some of them. Among other things, I get some stations from the north, which are usually local stations, and the main network stations from the south. all without the use of a rotor. The only negative I can say about the Five Star antennas at the moment (and why I'm giving them 4 stars) is that the output cable from the amplifier to the TV is a fixed length and cannot be removed from the amplifier, so if it's the TV does not reach, you need a coaxial double connector and a separate coaxial cable. If this cable gets damaged, those of you who are brave and fearless and armed with a soldering iron can fix the problem should it arise. However, I would give 4½ stars if I could.
