Review on Dorman C660501 Parking Brake Cable by Dustin Lannan

Before ordering I called the dealer to see if I could collect the genuine part but they said they didn't have it on hand and shipping would take about 2 weeks but they were still quite affordable. THEN they immediately told me I couldn't install the cables without ordering about $100 worth of NEW grommets, clips and hooks! New cables, whether from VW, Dorman, Gemo. They have a thicker rubber cable which they say does not match the original clamps. I called BS and that prompted me to order Dormans online. Yes, they are thicker, but the part of the cable that goes into the car through the aluminum tubes still fits perfectly. All you have to do is gently pry the existing clips and bend them slightly with pliers and they snap back into place with ease. It's a bit of a headache, but it's a lot better than paying $130 for parts you don't really need. I just watched the installation on YouTube and installed both cables in about 45 minutes. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars is that time will tell how they perform. But a week later everything is fine.
