Dorman C660501 Parking Brake Cable Review

For the most important parts on the MK4 Jetta, but none of the clips and hooks can no longer be fitted properly. The outer rubber is too thick.

The cable jackets are a bit larger in diameter but not a problem for those with some mechanical inclination. My emergency brakes and regular rear brakes now work great. Without proper emergency braking, the self-adjusting hydraulic piston will not work. now they do.

Although these cables are a replacement for the Jetta MK4's stock emergency brake cables, the black housing has a larger diameter. This made it very difficult to reuse the OEM frame mounted cable mount to reconnect to a new cable. Otherwise, all this work could be done in less than 30 minutes.

The length was correct but the OD was larger than the original which made installation difficult. The cable clamps had to be widened to accommodate the larger cable housings. The metal "retaining ring" was also too wide and had to be shortened to fit the original holder. Feasible, but not an exact match.

This was bought to replace another one I bought from Revain. Another brand had a boot crimped on the end of the caliper that stretched on the 2nd day after installation. The Dormant brand is almost exactly the same as the factory cable with a ball end. Easy to install, has been running on my machine for over a month with no problems.

These cables are great. They look identical to the originals. Cables of the same length, gauge, style, ends and functionality. I bought them for VW Getta 04, 1.9 Turbo, 4DR, red rear calipers, ventilated rotors. Both cables could be easily and properly installed. Great price, I bought the unit which is listed as used in very good condition. The packaging was damaged but the cable was like new. Thanks Revin

We need cables as a last resort. Revane said they were right. You were wrong. Had to cut the aluminum power pipe on the machine to make them work. Complete PITA. The ends are not securely fastened in the caliper brackets. Too long. I had to tie them to the chassis with a zip tie so they wouldn't drag. I'm not sure if Revain or Dorman misclassified them. Again NOT for 2011 (MKVI) Jetta or sports cars.

What worries me the most is that I ordered these under this warranty after being assured on the Revain website that the parts would definitely fit the 211 Volks Jetta. Upon arrival and attempting to install, I discovered that this was NOT THE CORRECT PART. Raven was wrong! If I then notify Revain of the issue and set up a return authorization, I'm told that it will cost me more than $8 to return parts that were originally wrong. It's not like the Revain I was. in business for many years

Before ordering I called the dealer to see if I could collect the genuine part but they said they didn't have it on hand and shipping would take about 2 weeks but they were still quite affordable. THEN they immediately told me I couldn't install the cables without ordering about $100 worth of NEW grommets, clips and hooks! New cables, whether from VW, Dorman, Gemo. They have a thicker rubber cable which they say does not match the original clamps. I called BS and that prompted me to order…
