Even after mixing with silicone, the first 2-3 games went perfectly, I was thrilled. After a few games I washed off the powder and reapplied. It was more than obvious where I didn't have enough powder, so I applied a little more to cover dry areas, and then a little more until I got to table level to make sure I wasn't over-applying in certain areas. . I can't keep it from caking unless I put in just enough to leave dry patches.
