Review on 🐱 Instinct Limited Ingredient Wet Cat Food: Natural, Grain-Free & Diet-Friendly Canned Formula by Dede Tambagan

There is currently a major shortage of prescription canned pet food so my vet recommended this brand as it is the only source of protein. My cats love the taste and even prefer it to Royal Canin PR but unfortunately the quality control of this product leaves a lot to be desired. The first jar I opened was very watery with the texture of baby puke. The product smelled nice so I drained it and fed the solid part to my cats - they ate well. I also noticed that the food has a lot of small fragments (looks like bones? but they are so brittle I can crush them with my fingers). I made sure to go through the entire jar picking out the larger pieces so it was safe for my cats. I opened the second can, I had to look twice. I realize there are peas in this formula, but I didn't realize that whole peas (counting about 6) would be a part of it. Again, this had a problem with bone fragments and wasn't as wet as the first can, but still quite sticky (think 6 on a cat poop chart) with globs of fat on top. I've bought many 'cheaper' brands of canned food and never seen problems like this, and these products are bloody expensive in comparison. I'm already dreading opening the third can for dinner tonight and seeing what other surprise they have in store for us. It's just that I'm really uncomfortable with the texture and content variation between the two banks as far as their quality control/guarantee goes, it's much more than a "small variation" between problem types between batches. At the moment this is the only single source canned protein that I have found to be widely available so I will continue to feed my cats this mixed with prescription food but once prescription food becomes available again they will be completely on it resort it. My cats have experienced a whole host of new proteins and hydrolyzed proteins, so this rabbit is all we have left to eat. If your pet has other options, I would steer clear.
