The product is excellent and it works. I bought a similar adapter a few years ago and it was useless. About 3 weeks ago I bought what should have been the perfect solution but it only works with a 3rd Gen Thunderbolt port. This product takes about 2 minutes to assemble - no tools required and instantly recognized by my computer. I switched from a smaller to a larger Samsung Evo 1TB drive. It only took about 10 minutes to clone an old drive with 400GB of data via a USB-C port using Samsung's migration tool. If I could give 10 stars I would.
