Almost a year in - solid/reliable; Linux support details

I've had this on the server for about 11 months now. There were few or no reviews at the time of purchase and I was skeptical that two Intel GigE NICs could be offered for such a low price. At the time, Revain had slow stock levels of such items and delivery times, so this was chosen based on a combination of expected delivery date and cost. So far there have been absolutely no problems using this on Linux with the igb driver. This is used in an application where I would experience a loss of connection or packet loss. This card also caused no problems with system stability. As far as I know the igb driver and the intel ethernet controllers it supports are a bit more feature rich than the e1000e driver and associated adapters/controllers. The controllers on this card specifically use the igb driver as opposed to the e1000e driver that the Intel NICs on my motherboard use. This is how it is identified: [ 8.909588] igb: Intel(R) Gigabit Ethernet Network Driver - Version 5.4 .0-k [ 8.909683] igb: Copyright (c) 2007-2014 Intel Corporation [ 9.154515] igb 0000:01:00.0: Intel (R) Gigabit Ethernet network connection [9.154520] igb 0000:01:00.0: eth1: (PCIe:2.5Gbps: width x1) 1c:fd:08:<edited>1[9.154525] igb 0000:01 :00.0: eth1: PBA #: Unknown[9.154528] igb 0000:01:00.0: MSI-X usage is stopping. 2 queues rx, 2 queues tx [9.403536] igb 0000:01:00.1: Intel(R) Gigabit Ethernet Network Connection [9.403676] igb 0000:01:00.1: eth0: (PCIe:2.5Gbps: width x1 ) 1c:fd:08:<edited>0[ 9.403794] igb 0000:01:00.1: eth0: PBA#: unknown[ 9.403876] igb 0000:01:00.1: Using MSI-X interrupts. 2 queues rx, 2 queues tx
