I cook a lot so it's important for me to have appliances that work well. I bought this item hoping to store my excess homemade fruit juice in the fridge. After reading the reviews and looking at all the high ratings, this seemed like a no-brainer. As soon as I got it I was very disappointed. At first it reminded me of a cheap, fragile flower vase with a hard-to-clean lid. It's a bit expensive for what you get. Apparently, given all the high reviews, people don't really care about cleaning the lid. You have to remove the inside of the lid to clean it properly and then take the time to put it back in place so it doesn't come loose when you pour. Very annoying. Instead, I opted for a clean, empty marinade jar with a lid for excess juice as it will stand the test of time and seem more practical. The decanter may one day serve as a vessel for yesterday's wine or for another purpose.
