Review on 🔒 Kwikset Halo Wi-Fi Smart Lock Keyless Entry Electronic Touchscreen Deadbolt with SmartKey Security, Satin Nickel by Paul Andrews

The physical installation of the lock went well, then everything went downhill. Just a quick message for people concerned about privacy. You must create an account with kwikset to use locking features other than a physical key. To do this, you need to download the app to your phone, then it will ask for your name, email address, phone number, and the GPS coordinates of your home. The real problems with this lock came after I created my account and tried to set up the lock in the phone app. The lock connects via Bluetooth for initial setup to connect to your WiFi network. Once this was done, a message about the forced firmware update popped up. This took about 10 minutes. After updating the firmware I lost most of the communication with the lock. This prompted me to add a passcode to the lock to activate the keyboard. I entered one but couldn't add it because "the lock was out of bluetooth range or had no power". I noticed that the lock's battery indicator is now showing %0, and a few minutes ago it was %100. I pressed the big lock/unlock button on the app and waited. After 2 minutes the lock worked and locked the door. This was the only time it actually (sort of) worked. I've tried changing various settings in the lock, such as: B. Sound and LED settings, but nothing happened. I decided to restart my phone and the lock myself and got a message from the lock. Now I could change the LED and sound settings, but that's about it. I still couldn't lock or unlock the app and couldn't add a passcode to use the keyboard. I played around with it for 45 minutes and got nowhere. One last try to get it working, factory reset and start over. This resulted in not being able to complete the first step and connect via Bluetooth. I reset everything AGAIN and can now connect via Bluetooth! But also back to the battery counter %0 and not being able to change any settings in the lock. I give up. I now had a $250 Wi-Fi touchpad door lock that I could only open with a key.
