It appears to catch hair and some dust but after removing it after a few weeks of handling and blowing with the dusty side a significant amount of dust passes through the filter. While this is good for reducing the amount of dust entering your computer, it still lets it in and resists airflow a little since it filters so well, reducing the cooling efficiency of your case. If you have pets and are looking for a quick and inexpensive way to keep hair off your computer, this is a pretty good option, but it doesn't really do much to prevent dust build-up in the long run.
