UPDATED - When was CHEAP = HIGH QUALITY?!

UPDATE NOTICE: 6 MONTHS LATER - Some of these colors have faded and the price has increased 5-10 from what I paid at the time of posting. These two facts make this set less desirable than the MeiLiang (Pretty Excellent) set associated with Paul Rubens. First Review - Highly pigmented, easy to wet, bright, good range of colors including an amazing magenta which is the perfect cool red ideal. for mixing colors. They are not chalky at all and have an almost completely transparent color choice. Minus one star for the fact that this set says it's Payne Gray but it's actually black instead. This means there are two shades of black: a dark, smooth black and a slightly lighter and grainy (ivory black has texture). Ivory Black is also the only color in this set that doesn't react to the salt trick (see image). It can still be used to mix your own version of Payne's Gray or Indigo colors (which are usually pre-made blue + black) commonly used for shadows or night skies. It should be noted that Cerulean is also a tint as cadmium is labeled as cadmium meaning it is not an actual pigment but a color that looks similar and is non-toxic. I would have preferred an ultramarine instead of the optional black, but for the price I have nothing to complain about. The shades of green were beautiful and varied, and while you could mix them yourself, these beautiful hues look great in floral arrangements. Reds may seem similar at first glance, but dilute them with different types of cool or warm reds, creating colors ranging from peachy to pink. This set has enough colors for beginners to make it easy without having to mix a lot, but has plenty of options for more colors for those who want to experiment. In recent years, competition in the art world has gone mad, with new watercolor sets popping up from brands you've never heard of. Last year, MeiLiang (Pretty Excellent) kit and more recently MIYA kit shocked people with high quality but inexpensive paints that made watercolor learning really affordable. This Dugato set is the same, amazingly good! They far outperform most student paints and are professional grade paints at a fraction of the cost. I will post the YouTube video and this written review along with color charts and example illustrations. I hope this is helpful :)

Pros
  • 🎨 Art Grade Paint - Made from very fine and pure pigment, making these paints have good transparency, good diffusion, high lightfastness and high saturation, ideal for blending and blending;
Cons
  • Could have chosen a newer model
