***SAFETY ALERT*** FIRE HAZARD*** I purchased this item a few months ago and put it in my bathroom to store my insulin pens. About a month ago, the fan on the back of the device started making noise. I lifted the device to look behind. There was some dust on the grill so I blew on it and cleaned it. When I plugged the device in, the fan kinda died out, but I could still hear it. I got used to the quiet hum of the fan until yesterday, when I left my apartment and went to the bathroom before leaving. I didn't hear the fan so I checked the unit. The green light behind it was on and the switch was still in the COLD position. But the fan was off. The device was very hot, as was the power plug. I immediately unplugged the device and checked the handles inside, which felt hot. Also, my LG watch charging from the same outlet was very hot. It is obvious that the cooling unit was not cooled by the stopped fan and the engine overheated. I'm convinced this unit could have caught fire if I hadn't noticed the fan stopped. I immediately turned it off and threw it away. This item should be recalled due to a bad fan. Please follow if you buy this item. It should have a power switch if the fan fails. It's not safe. Now you know.
