Whenever I've had a glass or two of wine, I'll wait an hour or two and use test strips to check my milk, directly from my breast (the instructions say this is OK). I set the timer and after two minutes the test patch is white - a negative result. However, after 5 minutes or more it turns dark. This doesn't happen all the time, like when I've had just a little bit of wine. The strip will stay negative in some cases. The instructions stress to check only after 2 minutes, no later, but I have my doubts. I have had a "negative" result at 2 minutes when I can still smell/feel alcohol on my breath. I think these do truly detect high amounts of alcohol, as I have had it test positive within 2 minutes when I know I have consumed enough alcohol to test positive. I just can't always be confident in the negative results when I've had 1-2 glasses (which is the case most of the time). So then, what's the point?
