I'm pretty sure our new fish is alive thanks to this little kit. When I received this item we were buying a new fish for our 1.5 year old angelfish. They were a few days old. The gourami didn't look very good. We know that the pH level in our aquarium is always a problem. The high pH has killed several fish over the years. We don't usually know what the pH level is until we bring the fish back to the store. We never considered buying a kit. (who knows why!). It was the perfect moment to try out this test suite. This test kit contains a beaker/vial, drops and a pipette. To use this set, scoop up enough water to the line on the glass. Add 4 drops and immediately compare to the chart on the back of the instructions. We found that our pH was too high. My husband did a routine water change which lowered the pH. He considered using chemicals or trying baking soda to lower the pH a little further, but our experience is that fewer chemicals are better. The next day, our new gourami cheered up. This test kit tests pH levels from 4.5 to 9.0. This is the highest limit. I was curious if it could be used for kombucha. This pH kit does not test the pH range of kombucha. Bought for the aquarium. This is for an aquarium, but I always try to find multiple uses for one item!
