The snap hooks seemed like a good idea to me, but they don't open wide enough to attach to the trailer rails!

Overall these are pretty good straps. They are thick and wide and I have no doubts about their carrying capacity. The ratchets work smoothly, and I like the "idea" with carabiners on the ends. In practice, however, they didn't help me much! I have three motorcycles and a Kendon three rail trailer. The Kendon trailer is designed using the front frame rails as attachment points. Welded and other slightly smaller diameter rails that can also be used. But the carabiners on those harnesses don't open wide enough to bypass those steel tubes. More traditional loops are welded to the back of the tag and carabiners can easily be attached here. So if you have a situation where you attach to a loop or attachment point that isn't too thick, you'll probably be fine. But if you're planning on attaching a carabiner to a frame like I did, you could run into trouble. Yes, you can use a soft zip tie to secure the strap around the trailer frame rails, which is what I did! But then you don't have a soft tape at the other end to bypass the bike's attachment point. So you either have to attach the carabiners directly to the bike or use a soft loop strap! And that brings me to the second problem. The second thing I noticed about these harnesses is that, as with all carabiners, the ends of the spring carabiners are machined to "hook" the other end. This means that when the carabiner is closed, its two ends interlock and prevent them from coming loose. This is normal, but the ends of these carabiners are very sharp where this processing occurs. Real carabiners used by climbers have their ends polished after machining so they don't have any sharp edges because you don't want the sharp edges of your gear cutting the strands of your rope! But on these tapes, the machined aluminum edges are very sharp. When using a padded strap around the legs of a fork or bicycle handlebars, you must be careful not to cut the strap when inserting it into the carabiner hole. Finally, it's a complaint that all ratchet straps have a soft bond. They are not short enough for me to use on the back of my bikes! To fully secure the bikes to the trailer, I need short straps at the back. These straps have a D-ring sewn into the webbing a few feet from the end. Just too much space between the D ring and the end of the belt. Even if you use the soft-tie feature, meaning you connect the carabiner to the D-ring by wrapping the strap around the attachment point, the minimum length of the entire strap is still more than 60cm! So if you need a really short strap to get from a footpeg to a loop in the middle of your trailer, for example, this set isn't for you. But as said, this is a common problem with ratchet straps these days since almost all have such a soft attachment feature. Carabiner, that's why I deducted a star. Otherwise they are very well made. But they have some inherent design flaws that make them unsuitable for my needs. If you are transporting bikes or quads where you need a longer strap and you have attachment points on your car or trailer that go through a carabiner hole then these straps are probably for you!
