How good is his weakest link.

Very durable and a bargain at first glance. I got them because of the closed carabiner, with the impression that the load can never be loose. But the ratchet fell apart and lost a simple cotter pin. I was lucky to see it happen and I didn't lose everything from the roof of my van. On examination, half of the ratchets were on the verge of the same defect. I replaced all the cotter pins and bent them properly. Now we're ready to go!

These are great straps in every way. Can't praise enough.

They are great. They are heavy duty with a large full size ratchet, come with great soft motorcycle/bike straps and are made in the USA. What more do you want. I was concerned about the snap hooks when I ordered, but on arrival they looked like they might hold up just as well as anything else. Excellent straps. The only thing they could have improved is if they came in a nice bag to throw in your truck when not in use.

Pros
  • Ideal for a small home

The safest zip ties I've ever used!

PowerTye ratchet straps are very secure due to the hooks used that hold the straps in place. If they come loose for any reason, unlike regular hook ends, they won't fall off where you hook them. My lightweight trailer seems to have enough flexibility that the bent ends of the other brackets keep slipping out of the metal bracket pockets I hooked them into. These hooks snap into place and won't fall off even if the strap comes loose! Adding some mounting rings makes it even better, I feel so…

Quality from American production

High-quality, durable ratchet slings, made in America. They're more expensive, but you'll understand why when you use them for the first time. I have several cheaper ratchet tie-down straps and they work great for light loads, but I wanted something heavier and better for towing a $16,000 John Deere mower. Shorter straps are a lot less of a hassle and carabiners work great! Combine these straps with DRing 1/2" steel anchors and you have some serious holding power! I highly recommend these…

Excellent Quality - Change Recommended

They are of excellent quality and easy to use. I would recommend the factory modification. You have gathered a loop at the soft, taut end to make working with the carabiner easier. I understand. But by doing this you made the end of the loop thicker. Now it's too thick to fit through the narrow holes on the handlebars of an off-road motorcycle. Between cables and rod. I have KTM and Kawasaki. The loop does not go through the holes on either bike. Now I can't use the built in soft bands and…

Pros
  • Few competitors
Cons
  • Mostly OK but...

One of the carabiners bent on the second or third try. Not sure how, considering they lock before pressure is applied. Straightened it enough to use but now the spring latch doesn't work. The edges of the locking part of the carabiner are very sharp. You could easily cut your finger. I ended up using a Dremel tool to dull the edges of a previously purchased set so I wouldn't have to worry about getting cut. Decided to return these and go the other way. Update: One of the ratchets failed today…

Should have stuck with my cheap oranges! Weak seams on these straps!

I have used port cargo belts on a few motorcycle rides in an enclosed trailer. After buying a $100,000 show bike I thought it would be a good idea to get the "best" so I bought two pairs of these. Heading to Dayton Bike Week I had four straps on each bike, two powertyes, two cargo brands. One of the Powertyes tore the seams causing the Harley to fall onto the show bike. Cargo in port held up well, now I'm hauling bikes back and just noticed other Powerty's are starting to tear at the seams. I…

Pros
  • Easy setup
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.

Overall these are pretty good straps. They are thick and wide and I have no doubts about their carrying capacity. The ratchets work smoothly, and I like the "idea" with carabiners on the ends. In practice, however, they didn't help me much! I have three motorcycles and a Kendon three rail trailer. The Kendon trailer is designed using the front frame rails as attachment points. Welded and other slightly smaller diameter rails that can also be used. But the carabiners on those harnesses don't…
