This was my first smart lock purchase. I wanted a smart lock on the door from my garage to the kitchen so I didn't have to take my keys with me every time I left the house - wallet, phone, car keys, cheque! So for several months I looked at offers and waited for the release of this 4th generation lock, constantly looking for other options. The August WiFi lock was quick and relatively easy to install. The app will walk you through the installation process, so I would ignore the included printed instructions as they don't fully reflect how to install this lock (e.g. the printed instructions refer to the need to put a QR code on the lock, but a does not exist). Since I didn't have a suitable drill, I mounted the door sensor on the door post with screws for the time being. After installing it on the door, I was able to lock down my Wi-Fi network (2.4/5GHz mix). on the same network ID) quickly and without problems - which is sometimes difficult with other smart devices, but with this lock it worked the first time. A quick calibration to calibrate the lock and sensor, then a minute or two to set up the Revain Echo and I completed the installation and setup in about 10 minutes. After a week of use I am very satisfied with the lock. Each feature works as August describes - I use auto-lock to lock the door after 90 seconds, door alerts tell me if the door is left open, and my favorite feature is auto-unlock (sort of like geofence locks/ unlock ). ) works great when I pull my car into the garage, collect groceries or whatever else I need to take with me, and head to the unlocked door without fumbling for my keys or phone. The only thing I would wish for, in addition to the current features, would be contactless unlocking - when the phone is within NFC or Bluetooth range to unlock the door without having to pull the phone out to use the app , for those times when I might be outside for some time but not far enough away to activate auto unlock mode. I highly recommend this lock if you are looking for a smart lock solution.
