Works for us with hard water.
We have a Big Berkey filtration system with two ceramic filters and two filters. It's time to change the filters and this time I've decided to use all four activated carbon filters. We have very hard water here and we have found that we get drinking water to use in our coffee maker first with the Brita filter and then through the Berkey filter. We seniors don't care about big water bottles and we don't have room for a full filter system.
