Review on NOAUKA Waterproof Reversing Reverse Universal by Steve Jones

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Low profile camera with very good picture.

I bought this for my Hyundai Santa Fe as it fits perfectly over the license plate in a separate location. I installed a wireless camera in another car and figured it would be a no-brainer. I was a bit concerned that the price would match something cheap from Asia with no helpful instructions, but I took a chance. The camera itself has a metal body that feels solid. Installation was as simple as drilling a hole and running wires to the taillight. This is where it got a bit tricky and confusing. The instructions were written in English but did not refer to a specific camera or part. The kit includes an A/V RCA cable with two small red wires that fit into each end of the A/V cable. I *thought* they were supposed to be for the reverse gear release wire on the back of the main unit, but the instructions made absolutely no mention of that. Connecting the wiring to the reverse light wasn't a problem, but I found I had to buy an RCA A/V extension cable as the cable that came with was about 5 feet shorter. The reverse wire reared its ugly head when I realized I had no video when I shifted into reverse. At this point I realized that the red wires sticking out of each end of the A/V cable had nothing to do with the reverse gear wire. As I have reviewed and revised the instructions over and over again, I have confirmed that there is no mention of any unique wires in this kit at all. As soon as I routed another wire from the reverse light to the reverse gear wire on the radio, everything worked. However, the picture is sharp, the wide-angle lens captures a very good field of view, and now, after 2 months in the car through many downpours, no moisture has gotten into the camera at all. This is a great camera and I have no regrets buying it. Unfortunately, this is a great camera with terrible literature.
