READ PLEASE! Firmware update required for Rebel series.

**UPDATE** 05/12/16 - As mentioned below, the lens requires a firmware update. SIGMA does this for free. Now that the lens has been updated it works perfectly with my Canon T6i! The lens is sharp and we're going to build it. Keep this in mind when buying used or old stock. Budget for time and delivery costs. Otherwise, buy with confidence! I didn't have the opportunity to use the exact replica of this lens that I bought. Although I am sure that when I get my hands on it I will like it as much as what I have tried before which led to this purchase. Now to the problem I'm solving now. If the item you purchased is used or new, you may receive a lens that does not have the latest Sigma firmware update installed. This firmware update makes this lens compatible with newer models of Canon cameras, primarily the Rebel series as far as I know. Firmware update is free and performed by Sigma or authorized Sigma dealers. I have received confirmation from both Sigma and my local authorized Sigma dealer that a firmware update can be made available to resolve an issue I was having with my copy of this lens. Now to the problem I am facing. The problem is that the Sigma lens in combination with my Canon T6i does not allow any of the live view functions. Of course, even if I switch back to the viewfinder, I can see and focus manually, but I can't activate the shutter release with the shutter button, or even autofocus. Sigma issued a corresponding notification in mid-2015. However, if you buy used from a local retailer, a private dealer, or even through Revain like I did, no one will let you know. Because most people probably don't know. The Revain store where I bought my copy didn't mention it, the description page of the lens itself doesn't give any details, nor have I found any reviews describing it. I even went so far as to ask a question about the lens on the Revains FAQ page and nobody was able to answer it. So I hope this helps. I will update my review once this is fixed. To be clear I don't hold Sigma responsible for this and I'm not upset with Revain nor am I proud of the lens itself, I just need to do some research as this will be a growing problem for used lens buyers with newer lenses cameras. If you have an older camera, 60D, T3i, T4i, 7D. Most likely you will not have this problem. Buying a new lens from the factory rather than off the shelf is likely to avoid this problem as well, as Sigma releases all new lenses with the latest firmware. In addition, all lenses with current firmware have a white circular sticker in the bottom corner of the lens packaging. Much luck. I will update the review very soon.
