Review on Portable Hydraulic Double Carrying Capacity by Mike Dart

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Everyone needs a bottle jack.

I'm an engineer and also an RV, if you own an RV you really need a bottle jack for those "just in case" moments when you blow a tire or something. This 10-ton bottle jack is designed to help in times like these. I hope I don't have one, but always be prepared. This 10 ton jack comes in a nice plastic carrying case. I thought it would be great to keep in the back of my tractor to keep the jack and handle together instead of going separately. While the jack arrived with all the parts in the case, the case itself, even in the shipping box, was crumpled in one corner and threatening to fall apart. While the housing doesn't interfere with the jack's function (I verified this by lifting the front of my Gator), the housing was one of the reasons I wanted this jack for easy storage. The plastic of the case could be better, it seems very brittle and I've included a photo of it falling apart just from jarring during shipping. For that reason and the fact that the case is one of the reasons I wanted this I'm not giving it 5 stars overall and why the durability is only a 3. As for the bottle jack itself, it works very well as can be seen in the picture. . I've read other reviews on this jack where others have mentioned hydraulic oil leaks, I've never seen anything like it, completely dry and the performance of the jack itself was exactly what I expected. Don't forget some blocks of wood if you want to use this for your RV.
