I bought my wife a hammock for Christmas and was looking for a way to hang it between two trees in the front yard which were the perfect distance apart. I didn't want to screw anything into the trees. These straps are just what I needed. Not only do they not harm the tree, they are so simple to use. The end with the metal ring slips through a loop in the other end of the strap. Then you just wrap them around the tree until you have the ring in the desired position. They can stay in the tree when the hammock gets taken down in bad weather. I feel very confident that these straps make the hammock secure.The only thing I was not sure about was the S-hooks, mainly since I have four kids jumping in and out of the hammock. Just to be sure, I bought a couple of locking carabiners which work great.The straps were wider than I imagined. I would compare them to the size and type of material as a car seat belt.
