I upgraded my Linksys router with this Rock Space AC2100 but I didn't use any ethernet cables at all. I just put this router on a bench in the hallway and use it in WiFi repeater mode connected to my main MOFI4500 router. I used to have a Linksys connected to my MOFI (cables were very annoying) but now I don't have to use cables anymore and I've greatly increased the speed. I should have done that back MANY TIMES ago. It took me less than 5 minutes to set up the repeater mode right out of the box, very easy and without consulting any manual except confirming the IP address for the connection (192.168). .0.1). I checked the firmware but it was already the latest. The menu looks simple and has all the standard features that every other router has. There are 4 switchports and a USB port on the back, but for now I try to avoid cables as much as possible. I live in a concrete walled house so I need a repeater halfway through my house to get into my living room, this works much better than regular plug in repeaters and is very inexpensive. I can get 50MB download speeds over WiFi from my main MOFI router, but the further away you are, the worse it gets. I was able to get 10-15MB around the house with these little plug-in repeaters, and I had to use several of these to reach every corner of my house because they still didn't offer the speed or coverage I needed. I am currently using this Rock Space router as my only repeater and it is routed to my MOFI4500 upstream router. The maximum speed I would get in my living room in front of this router was 15MB download speed. Now when I'm connected to this Rock Space router I have 35MB all the time when I plug an ethernet cable into it, I'm pretty sure it's going to be even faster, wired is always faster. Next I upload about 25MB in my garage, which is normal for this area, never had 10MB. The biggest improvement for me is that my smart TV no longer disconnects from streaming services. Anyone who needs to improve signal strength in their home should definitely consider one of these routers before ever considering a standalone repeater. It will act as a repeater but with 4 antennas it will be more powerful and faster along with many other features.
