Review on Sabrent 2TB Rocket 4 Plus NVMe 4.0 Gen4 PCIe M.2 Internal SSD | Extreme Performance Solid State Drive | R/W 7100/6600MB/s | SB-RKT4P-2TB by Chris Horton

First review: I chose the Samsung 980 Pro because I wanted 2TB. It's pretty fast, which is to be expected. Highly recommended! Update 03/01/2021: It's not going well at all. According to HWInfo64 I already have 94% lifespan on the drive that I'm only using for a few days in 3 months. For comparison, the 970 Pro that I replaced with this Sabrent drive has been used for over a year (as of August 2019) and still has 99% life remaining. Usage is exactly the same etc. FYI both drives were 2TB models. Of course, I understand that the 970 Pro is MLC vs. TLC on the Sabrent (and the 980 Pro), but it's still a significant compromise. This gives me around 4 years of life left, but I expect to probably see some signs of deterioration well before that. It's also hard to find where Sabrent has documented the TBW lifespan of this drive, and I suspect that could be due to the less-than-impressive result. In comparison, the 980 Pro has an endurance rating of 1200 TBW. If the remaining lifespan of this drive is 94%, it means you have written 47TB on the drive. I wrote 16TB, which is admittedly a lot in 3 months - and I'm not even sure how I did that as activity was a bit minimal - but the same TBW would only equate to about 1.33% of life . Samsung, not 6% of Sabrent's life. So the Sabrent appears to have about 1/4 the data capacity of the Samsung 980 Pro by these numbers, meaning the drive's capacity is only about 300TBW! That's HALF the lifespan of even Samsung's QLC offering in the same 2TB size, and not even on par with the 1TB QLC offering. This small headroom definitely comes at the expense of the drive's endurance. It's still a good ride and I haven't had any issues with it, but keep that in mind when deciding which route to take. If I had personally known how bad the endurance was, I would have gone with the 980 Pro and suffered a small drop in performance. For others, however, performance is paramount, and I fully understand and respect that decision. Much luck!
